Regional band "Zagorzanie"

The Regional Group "Kasinianie - Zagórzanie" operates in the town of Kasina Wielka, in the commune of Mszana Dolna, in the Małopolska province. It was founded in 1970, and since 1996 it has been operating in its current form, created by the merger of two folk groups: "Kasinianie" and "Zagórzanie".

The group cultivates and promotes the cultural heritage of the Zagórzanie – highlanders living in the Gorce and Beskid Wyspowy areas. The repertoire includes folk songs, dances and rituals, such as "Wesele zagórzańskie", "Cepiny", "Młocka", "Wieczór Andrzejkowy", "Dziady śmigusowe" or "Na len, na konpe". The group places particular emphasis on the authenticity of the message and folk costumes characteristic of their region.

"Kasinian - Zagórzanie" is a multi-generational group - it includes children, youth and adults, often entire families. Thanks to this, Zagórzany folklore is passed down from generation to generation in a natural and lively way.

The band has won numerous awards and distinctions:

  • Golden, Silver and Bronze Ciupaga at the International Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane,

  • Grand Prix at the "Limanowska Słaza" festival (2019),

  • numerous awards at the Highlander Carnival in Bukowina Tatrzańska and at the Polish Highlanders Festival in Żywiec

In 2023, the band released an album titled "Z gór z gór", presenting traditional Zagórza melodies from Kasina Wielka and the surrounding area.

"Kasinians – Zagórzanie" performed not only in Poland, but also abroad – in Croatia, Austria, France, Denmark, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and many other countries, proudly representing Polish folk culture in the international arena.
